"It Will Take You Places Before You Fire It Up"

That poster hangs proudly in my workshop, along with an engine torsion damper, some wax casts for the engine mounts, and an unchromed "chalice of cynicism" aka front fork spring guide.

The Super-X is better for what it represents - a new-from-the-ground-up motorcycle built by enthusiasts of American cruisers for enthusiasts of American cruisers - than what it really is ...

Excelsior should be where Victory is today, but the bravado of the management caused them to overlook the fact that solid engineering is more important than barbeques and "attitude" campaigns.

Too bad the Super-X was constrained by low displacement and not counter-balanced out of respect for Harley ... perhaps the theme song would have been more appropriately "What Might Have Been" instead of "Proud to be an American".

Nevertheless, not many groups get as far along the road as the Road Crew did, and I'm proud to have been a part of it.
